Sara G. Penton
September 15, 1928 - February 19, 2010
Sara G. Penton, 81, died Friday, February 19, 2010 under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Penton was born in Norcross, GA on September 15, 1928, the daughter of the late George D. and Clara Thomas Graves. She had been a resident of Savannah since the age of 15. Sara was a beautician in Savannah for 52 years, owning her own Salon for over 30 of those years. She was a devout Christian and longtime member of Southside Baptist Church where she was active in the Mary Sheehan Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Penton was preceded in death by her sons, Gerald D. and Gary O. Penton and her brother, Charles D. Graves. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Henry L. Penton, Jr.; daughter, Katherine Lanier and husband Don of Savannah; son, Henry L. Penton, III of Savannah; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and sister, Kathryn White of Savannah.
Visitation: 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors with Dr. Allan W. Bosson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Members of the Mary Sheehan Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
